Captain Willis's Cane

This cane was carried by Captain Willis of the 1st Battalion the Lancashire Fusilier at Gallipoli in 1915.  As the Fusiliers fought to capture W Beach on the Gallipoli Peninsula, Willis raised the cane and shouted "remember Minden", referring to the bravery shown at this battle, in order to rouse the troops. The Regiment won six Victory Crosses for their actions on that day.
