Supporting the Fusilier Museum through donations and sponsorship enables us to preserve and retell the stories of hundreds of Fusiliers.  Support from individuals, companies, grant-making trusts and other organisations ensures that we are able to create and curate new exhibitions as well as refurbish and refresh our existing displays; preserve the items in the collection and make them available for studying and learning; and create and deliver new strands within our learning programme and purchase artefacts linked with them.  Only 12% of our income comes from admissions and paid services.  We have to secure the remainder through charitable and trading activity.  There are many ways in which you can offer us your support:


Sponsor a Child

The Fusilier Museum currently welcomes around 5,000 school children each year, coming in organised groups using our collections in curriculum-linked programmes covering History, English Literature, Art and Science.  Following the opening of the top floor redevelopment we are now able to accommodate a great many more groups.  The Museum subsidises the cost of these visits. Could you help by covering the costs of one child’s place on our education programme?

Corporate Membership

Our new Corporate Membership scheme provides businesses with an entry-level way of supporting the Museum and its work.  With a varied range of benefits on offer, there is a level to suit all needs and budgets.  Your support of the scheme will enable us to:


  • Maintain and refresh our existing exhibitions in both The Lancashire Fusilier and The Royal Regiment of Fusilier galleries.
  • Develop new and exciting temporary exhibitions, ensuring that there is regularly something new to see and learn about.
  • Service the 500+ family history enquiries per year we receive in The Fusilier Archive.
  • Welcome over 5,000 school children’s visits per year for a wide range of projects and educational workshops

There are many aspects of our work which are available for sponsorship: Schools Education projects, Family and Community work, temporary exhibitions, acquisitions of new artefacts, and preservation work.  Sponsorship of each of these areas comes with their own list of features and benefits, many of which can be tailored to suit your particular corporate needs.  Costs start from £5,000.


Regular Giving

As an independent registered charity, The Fusilier Museum is reliant on charitable income.  Only 12% of our income comes from admissions and service charges, the remainder has to be self-generated through fundraising and corporate hire.  Signing up to one of our regular giving schemes enables the Museum to have confidence in a certain level of income and therefore plan for the future, and enables donors to join the Fusilier Museum family and become more closely involved with our activities and projects.


A gift in your Will

Leaving a gift to The Fusilier Museum in your Will is one of the most thoughtful ways you can support our charitable activities.  Many people are unable to offer a level financial support to causes close to their hearts in their lifetime but a gift in their Will enables them to make a real difference.  The amount doesn’t have to be large to have an impact: £250 would pay for one class to take part in one of the Museum’s education projects; £1,000 would cover the costs of preservation work on one of our uniforms; £5,000 would cover the costs of developing an entire new education project; £7,500 would pay for a whole new temporary exhibition; £20,000+ would enable the Museum to consider some of its future expansion and development plans including an immersion theatre, enabling a 360degree ‘immersion’ experience.  Once you have made provision for your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift to the Fusilier Museum in your Will.

The Fusilier Museum received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) under the Catalyst small grants awards scheme, to assist in becoming financially sustainable by building fundraising capacity.
The award enabled the Museum's existing staff, trustees and volunteers to take part in fundraising training, mentoring and workshops and to devote time and resources to the setting-up of new fundraising initiatives to support the Museum's wide range of work.

The Catalyst Small Grants programme awarded £1.14million to heritage organisations to support a range of activities to build fundraising capacity and improve access to new sources of private funding, such as individual or corporate donors, trusts and foundations.
