18 for 18

18 Victoria Crosses, 18 Remarkable Stories

2018 marks the 100 year anniversary since the end of the First World War. To commemorate this major milestone, The Fusilier Museum, Bury is hosting a special exhibition – 18 for 18 which will see all eighteen Victoria Crosses awarded to the Lancashire Fusiliers during the Great War united for the first time.

The Victoria Cross is the highest medal awarded for gallantry in the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces and recognises extreme bravery. During the First World War (1914-1918) the Lancashire Fusiliers won eighteen Victoria Crosses, more than any other British infantry regiment.

18 for 18 tells the extraordinary stories of the eighteen men that displayed the ultimate courage in the line of duty, from the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey to the Western Front in France.
