Learning update - January/February 2021

In preparation for the museum re-opening later in the year, we have been contacting teachers to find out how we can best support you at this current time.

Sadly we are not able to offer on-site facilitated sessions this term, but we have been thinking about how you can still engage with our collection during this term. Below you can access the following:

  • Virtual Gallery Tour, click here. Exploring the museum can be beneficial and inspirational for young people. Please consider supporting our work by donating here. Your support is very much appreciated at this time
  • Teachers Packs, click here. Packs covering the First and Second World War can be found online and will link into themes appropriate for Remembrance Day on 11th November. These packs also include ideas for classroom based activities
  • Loans Boxes, click here. Boxes themed on the First or Second World War
  • Online Content. We will be updating our website with more content for you to use with your groups over the coming weeks, so please come back soon to see what we’ve been up to!

Museum Visits

Whilst we are not offering facilitated sessions at the museum this term, we don’t want to stop you from coming to visit when we re-open later in the year. However due to the current guidelines there will be changes to how your visit will run that we need to make you aware of in advance:

  • There will be no facilitated school sessions offered on site at the museum this term
  • The café at the museum will be closed
  • There will be no lunch room space available for your group
  • There will be no storage space available for coats and bags
  • There will be a one way system in place around the museum’s galleries
  • We have hand sanitizing and hand washing facilities in place around the museum, but we recommend that you implement your own hygiene regime according to your school’s risk assessment
  • All visitors over the age of 11 years, including staff, must wear a face mask, unless exempt

If you would like to book a visit for your group, you MUST contact the Learning Department to discuss suitable dates and times. This will ensure that only one group is on site at one time, therefore helping us to keep your group, other visitors and our staff and volunteers safe. To book please email the Learning Team at learning@fusiliermuseum.com

The Fusilier Museum offers children and young people engaging learning opportunities which are suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities.

The Learning team deliver a variety of museum-led sessions, based on different topics, to suit the needs of your group. We can assist with planning your visit to the museum, including self-guided visits. The Learning team can also provide resources, such as clipboards and pencils, to help make the most of your time at the museum.
